We are a community based service for the administration of intravenous antibiotics safely at home. We accept referrals from primary and secondary care.
Our team approach ensures that IV antibiotics are given only if required and that treatment is carefully monitored to ensure safety and clinical excellence.
Lower limb cellulitis can be referred direct if IV antibiotic use is approved by a senior doctor. Other indications should first be discussed with Microbiology or Infectious Disease (contact via switchboard) to obtain an antibiotic treatment plan.
Referrals can be made 24 hours a day.
Discharge advice and support is available Monday to Friday 8-4 pm from the infection specialist nurses on bleep 3112. At weekends advice is available from the Infectious Disease consultant on call.
Our team consists of:
-
Infectious Diseases specialists
-
Medical microbiologists
-
Clinical nurse specialists in Infectious Diseases
-
Antibiotic pharmacists
-

-

We will take referrals from primary and secondary care. We aim to avoid unnecessary admissions and encourage referrals from GPs and the Emergency department.
